Spring
And Suddenly Spring
The winds of March were sleeping.
I hardly felt a thing.
The trees were standing quietly.
It didn't seem like spring.
Then suddenly the winds awoke
They raced across the sky.
They bumped right into April,
Splashing springtime in my eye.
by Margaret Hillert
April
"April showers bring May
flowers,"
the teacher explains.
And so though it may rain for hours,
Not a child complains.
Underneath their bright umbrellas,
Splashing to and fro,
Children scamper through the showers,
Always on the go.
Easter comes! It's bright and sunny.
The children greet the Easter Bunny.
by Bobbi Katz
April
Rain has such fun in April, it patters
through the trees
Talking to all the leaf buds and
robins that it sees
It splashes through the puddles and
skips along the walks
Goes coasting down the grass blades
and dandelion stalks
It dips in all the flowers and when
the clouds blow by
It paints with flower colors a rainbow
in the sky.
April
April is made of such wonderful things
Sunbeams and tulips and butterfly
wings.
April Poems
In April fleecy clouds float by
Like cotton candy in the sky
April is tip-toeing into the land
Touching each leaf with her delicate
hand.
A Wish
A hundred furry kittens
On a pussy willow tree
I wish they'd all turn into cats
And come and play with me
Who will tell us spring is here?
Pussy-Will-O!
Big Round Sun
The big round sun in the springtime
sky
Winked at a cloud that was passing by
The little cloud laughed as it
scattered rain
Then out came the big round sun again.
Daylight Savings Time (tune of
Farmer in the Dell)
In spring when maple buds are red
We turn the clock an hour ahead
Which means, each April that arrives
We lose an hour out of our lives.
Days of Spring (tune of Farmer
in the Dell)
The days of spring are here
Warm sunny days are near
Birds in trees, flowers and bees
The days of spring are here.
Good-Bye Winter
Good-bye winter, we wish you'd go
away.
Good-bye snow, good-bye slush.
Good-bye puddles, good-bye snowsuits.
Good-bye cold wind!
Come back springtime, we wish you'd
come to stay.
Come back grass! Come back flowers!
Come back birds! Come back swimsuits.
Come back warm sun!
Hello
Spring comes hurrying over the hill
Phoning the news through a daffodil
by L. A. Garrett
I Know a Little Pussy
I know a little pussy,
Her coat is silver grey,
She lives down in the meadow,
Not very far away.
Although she is a pussy,
She'll never be a cat,
For she's a pussy willow,
Now what do you think of that?
Meow, meow, meow, meow,
Meow, meow, meow, meow, SCAT!
I Love the Flowers
I love the flowers.
I love the budding trees.
I love the chirping birds.
I love the buzzing bees.
I love the Springtime,
When the sun is warm and bright.
Boom de-a-da, Boom de-a-da,
Boom de-a-da, Boom Boom.
In our Springtime Garden (tune
of Mulberry Bush)
What a lovely time of year, time of
year, time of year
What a lovely time of year, in our
springtime garden
See the flowers swing and sway, swing
and sway, swing and sway
See the flowers swing and sway, in our
springtime garden.
It is Spring
It is spring, it is spring
The grass is turning green
The grass is turning green
Look at all the flowers
Look at all the flowers
Hear the birds sing,
Hear the birds sing.
by Vera Trembach
It is Springtime (tune of
London Bridge)
Leaves are growing on the trees, on
the trees, on the trees
Leaves are growing on the trees, it is
springtime
All the grass is turning green...
See the birds build their nests...
Watch the flowers start to grow...
March
March
is busy
as can be,
shaking snow
from bush and tree.
March
is busy
night and day,
shooing wintertime
away.
by Jay Lee
March
The March wind blows winter away
And sweeps the streets from day to day
March brings surprises, first the
day's hot
Then it starts snowing, likely as not
Hurry, March wind, hurry along
We like to hear you sing your song.
March
Now when it's March
It's really spring
There's a bright new look
On everything.
March
When the rain is splashing down
On the fields and in the town
Singing winds begin to blow
And the flowers start to grow
How glad I am when I have seen
Those tender leaves of gentle green
They warm my heart and make it sing
For now I know at last it's spring
Spring makes the world a happy place
You see a smile on every face
Flowers come out and birds arrive
Oh, isn't it grand to be alive.
March
Winter still can blast and blow
and make a child's nose glow.
But when it's mild and the wind's just
right,
each child likes to fly a kite.
Catching the breeze at the end of a
string,
Children know it will soon be spring!
Little by little the days grow longer.
The nights are shorter. The sun is
stronger.
Winter was fun, but it's almost over.
The snow-tattered hill will soon wear
clover.

March Lamb or Lion
When March comes in gently, with soft
skies of blue
And warm happy breezes and crocus buds
too
March begins like a lamb, sweet gentle
and kind
But you'd better beware for you'll
surely find
That the end of the month will be
stormy and cold
Like a lion it'll roar, rough, growly
and bold
If March begins windy, and stormy and
gray,
If it's too cold outside, to happily
play
The lion's here first, and he's not so
nice
You should be indoors take my advice
But wonderful weather is coming they
say
By the end of the month the lamb's
here to stay.
March Winds and April Showers
March winds and April showers
Popping up are pretty flowers
A kite flying in the sun
Aren't you glad that spring's begun!
March Winds Blow (tune of
Michael Row the Boat)
March winds blow with happy news
Spring is coming
March winds blow with happy news
Spring is coming
Hear them whisper, hear them sing
See the trees play
Hear them whisper, hear them sing
See the trees play.
May
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The month is May!
It's time to sing!
It's time to play!
It's time for the children
to start prancing
and weave a rainbow
while they're dancing.
by Bobbi Katz
Pussy Willow
Tiny little pussy willow
Softer than a baby's pillow
Sometimes when I stroke your fur
I can almost hear you purr.
Pussy-willow
Pussy-willow,
Pussy-willow,
Like a cater-
Pillar's pillow-
Pussy-willow
Mine-o.
by Dennis Lee
Pussy Willow
I have a little pussy,
And her coat is silver grey,
She lives down in the meadow,
Not so far away.
She'll always be a pussy,
She'll never be a cat,
'Cause she's a pussy willow,
Now what to you think of that?
Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, SCAT!
Pussy Willows
Close your eyes
and do not peek
and I'll rub Spring,
across your cheek-
smooth as satin,
soft and sleek-
close your eyes
and do not peek.
by Aileen Fisher
Season Song (tune of Frère Jacques)
It is springtime, it is springtime
Winter's gone, winter's gone
Summer time is coming, summer time is coming
It won't be long, it won't be long.
Signs of Spring (tune of Muffin Man)
Do you see a sign of spring,
A sign of spring, a sign of spring?
Do you see a sign of spring?
Tell us what you see.
Spring
Open the windows and open the door
And let the fresh breezes blow in, blow in.
Jack Frost has gone to his home in the north
And all of a sudden it's Spring!
Spring
I love spring
Spring is new
It's new blades of grass
It's rain on a lass
It's violets and rain
It's a wood-scented lane
It's a new bird song
It's days growing long
It's a tree in bud and puddles of mud
It's birds in a tree and buzz from a bee
It's kites in the sky
It's spring. That's why
I love spring.
Spring is Coming
Spring is coming, spring is coming.
How do you think I know?
I see a flower blooming,
I know it must be so.
Spring is coming, spring is coming,
How do you think I know?
I see a blossom on the tree,
I know it must be so.
Spring is Here
Spring is here! Spring is here!
Winter is gone and two flowers appear.
Three little robins begin to sing.
Four bicycle bells begin to ring.
Five children come out and jump the
rope.
Spring is here now! I hope, I hope!
Spring Morning (tune of
Mulberry Bush)
This is the way the bunny hops, bunny
hops, bunny hops
This is the way the bunny hops, on a
spring time morning.
This is the way the robin flies...
This is the way the little chick
walks...
This is the way the little duck
swims...
This is the way the little lamb
runs...
This is the way the children play...
Spring Song
Frogs croak
Rains soak
Chicks peep
Crickets leap
Bees hum
Robins come
Birds sing
It's spring!
Spring Song (tune of Frère
Jacques)
I see robins, I see birds' nests
Butterflies too, flowers too
Everything is growing
The wind is gently blowing
Spring is here, spring is here.
Springtime (tune of Mulberry
Bush)
Springtime, springtime, how do you do
Springtime, springtime, how do you do
Springtime, springtime, how do you do
Flowers, sunshine are part of you.
Springtime colors are everywhere...
Bright and cheerful colors too.
Springtime animals everywhere...
Birds, bees, and butterflies too.
Blossoms, buds, and greenery too...
Springtime, springtime, glad to see
you.
Springtime (tune of Did You
Ever See a Lassie)
My eyes can see it's springtime, it's
springtime, it's springtime
My eyes can see it's springtime, the
grass is so green
The green grass, the flowers, the
sunshine and showers
My eyes can see it's springtime, and I
am so glad.
My ears can hear it's springtime, it's
springtime, it's springtime
My ears can hear it's springtime, the
birds sweetly sing
The birds sing, the lambs bleat, the
frogs croak, the bees buzz
My ears can hear it's springtime, and
I am so glad.
My body feels it's springtime, it's
springtime, it's springtime,
My body feels it's springtime, the air
is so warm.
The warm air, the breezes, no frost
and no freezes
My body can feel it's springtime, and
I am so glad.
Today It is Spring
I am a caterpillar
Today it is spring
I can hear
A robin sing.
I'm a red-breasted robin
I sing for fun
I sing when I see
The big yellow sun.
I'm the big yellow sun
I'm happy you know.
I can smell
The flowers all in a row.
We are the flowers
Bright red you see
We taste so good
To a honey bee.
I am a honey bee
I buzz around
Until I feel the rain coming down.
I am the rain
My water I give
So God's little creatures
Can grow and live.
Today it is Spring.
