Rain
April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with
silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the
sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the
gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on
our roof at night
And I love the rain.
by Langston Hughes
April Shower
Mix a little sunshine
With an April shower
Drop it in a garden bed
And up pops a flower.
Boom! Bang! Thunder!
Boom, bang, boom, bang
Rumpety, lumpety, bump!
Zoom, zam, zoom, zam
Clippety, clappety, clump
Rustles and bustles and swishes and zings
What wonderful noises a thunderstorm brings.
Brooms
On stormy days
When the wind is high,
Tall trees are brooms
Sweeping the sky.
They swish their branches
In buckets of rain,
And swash and sweep it
Blue again.
by Dorothy Aldis
Conversation
An umbrella
And a raincoat
Are walking and talking together.
by Buson
Dancing' in the Rain
So what if it drizzles
And dribbles and drips?
I'll splash in the garden,
I'll dance on the roof.
Let it rain on my skin,
It can't get in-
I'm waterproof.
by Shel Silverstein
Dr. Foster
Dr. Foster went to Gloucester,
In a shower of rain,
He stepped in a puddle,
Up to his middle,
And never went there again.
Fun in the Rain (tune of Deck the Halls)
Do you hear the pitter patter
Hear the little raindrops falling down
Can you see the splashing water
All the little raindrops on the ground
Time to get our big umbrellas
We don't want to get our hair all wet
If you hear your boots and raincoat
We will go outside and splash a bit.
Galoshes
Susie's galoshes
Make splishes and sploshes
And slooshes and sloshes
As Susie steps slowly
Along in the slush.
They stamp and they tramp
On the ice and concrete,
They get stuck in the muck and the mud;
But Susie likes much best to hear
The slippery slush
As it slooshes and sloshes,
And splishes and sploshes,
All around her galoshes!
by Rhoda Bacmeister
If All of the Raindrops
If all of the raindrops,
Were lemon drops and gum drops,
Oh, what a rain that would be.
I'd stand outside,
With my mouth open wide,
Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh,
Uh-uh-uh.
If all of the raindrops,
Were lemon drops and gum drops,
Oh, what a rain it would be.
If all of the snowflakes,
Were chocolate bars and milk shakes,
Oh, what a snow it would be.
I'd stand outside with my mouth open wide.
Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh,
Uh-uh-uh.
If all of the snowflakes,
Were chocolate bars and milk shakes,
Oh, what a snow, it would be.
I Hear Thunder
I hear thunder, I hear thunder,
Don't you, don't you?
Pitter, patter raindrops, pitter, patter
raindrops.
I'm wet through. I'm wet through.
I see blue skies. I see blue skies.
Way up high. Way up high.
Hurry up sunshine. Hurry up sunshine.
I'll soon dry. I'll soon dry.
by Sarah Williams
It's Raining
It's raining, it's pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He went to bed and bumped his head.
And couldn't get up in the morning.
Little Raindrop
This is the sun, high up in the sky.
A dark cloud suddenly comes sailing by.
These are the raindrops.
Pitter patter down.
Watering the flowers,
Growing on the ground.
Pitter, Patter
Oh, where do you come from
You little drops of rain.
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter
Down on the window pane.
Tell me, little raindrops,
Is that the way you play?
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter,
All the rainy day.
Pitter Patter
Pitter patter pitter patter
Listen to the rain
Pitter patter pitter patter
On my windowpane
by Jackie Silberg
Pitter Patter
Pitter, patter falls the rain, on the roof and
windowpane
Softly, softly, it comes down, and makes a
stream that runs around
Flowers lift their heads and say, a nice cool
drink for us today.
by Diane Briggs
Puddles
One puddle, two puddles made by the rain.
Three puddles, four puddles, down in the lane.
Five puddles, six puddles we can wade through.
Seven puddles, eight puddles quite muddy, too!
Nine puddles, ten puddles covering tiny roots
Eleven puddles, twelve puddles - we all need
our boots!
Rain
From big black clouds
The raindrop fell.
Drip, drip, drip one day.
Until the bright sunlight changed them
Into a rainbow gay!
Rain
I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.
I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand-
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said-
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my
head.
by Shel Silverstein
Rain
Pitter-patter, pitter-pat,
The rain goes on for hours.
And though it keeps me in the house,
It's very good for flowers.
Rain
Rain on green grass
And rain on the tree.
Rain on the rooftop,
But not on me!
Rain
Rain, rain, falling from the sky
Pitter, patter, oops it hit my eye
Rain, rain, falling on my toys
Boom Boom Boom Boom
Scary sounding noise
Rain, rain, falling on my nose
Drip Drip Drip Drip
Squishing through my toes
by Jackie Silberg
Rain
See the raindrops - how they glisten
On the window pane.
You can hear them, if you listen
To the dripping of the rain.
"I can beat you," said the big drop,
"To the window ledge."
He went so fast, he could not stop,
And slipped right off the edge!
Rain
The rain is raining all around,
It falls on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Rain
The storm came up so very quick.
It couldn't have been quicker.
I should have brought my hat along.
I should have brought my slicker.
My hair is wet, my feet are wet.
I couldn't be much wetter.
I fell into a river once,
But this is even wetter!
Rain
There's rain that's rain
And rain that's sleet
And rain that turns to snow
There's April showers
Just in time
To make the flowers grow
There's rain that's mist
And one that's a frizzle
It isn't sleet
It isn't snow
It's just a silly drizzle.
Raindrops
How brave a ladybug must be!
Each drop of rain is big as she.
Can you imagine what youd do
If raindrops fell as big as you?
by Aileen Fisher
Raindrops
Rain is falling down.
Rain is falling down.
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter
Rain is falling down.
by Marion Grayson
Raindrops
Raindrops, raindrops, falling all around.
Pitter, patter on the rooftops.
Pitter, patter on the ground.
Here is an umbrella. It will keep me dry.
When I go walking in the rain, I hold it up so high.
Pitter, patter, raindrops. Falling from the sky.
Here is my umbrella, to keep me safe and dry.
When the rain is over, and the sun begins to glow.
Little flowers start to bud, and grow and grow and grow!
Raindrops
Rain is falling down, rain is falling down
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter,
Rain is falling down.
by Marion Grayson
Raindrops (tune of Sing a Song of Sixpence)
Pitter patter raindrops
Falling from the sky
Here is my umbrella
To keep me safe and dry
When the rain is over
And the sun begins to glow
Little flowers start to bud
And grow and grow and grow.
Rain Poem
The rain was like a little mouse,
quiet, small and gray.
It pattered all around the house
and then it went away.
It did not come, I understand,
indoors at all, until
it found an open window and
left tracks across the sill.
by Elizabeth Coatsworth
Rain, Rain Go Away
Rain, rain, go away.
Come again another day.
Little Susie(Johnny) wants to play.
Rain, rain, go away.
Rain, Rain Falling Down (tune of Row, Row)
Rain, rain, falling down
Falling on the ground
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter
What a lovely sound.
Rainy Day
I do not like a rainy day.
The road is wet, the sky is grey.
They dress me up, from head to toes,
In lots and lots of rubber clothes.
I wish the sun would come and stay.
I do not like a rainy day.
by William Wise
Rainy Day
"Rumble, rumble, rumble," hear the thunder say.
"We will bring big storm clouds. You can't go out
today."
One little raindrop was clear as morning dew.
Another raindrop joined her, and then there were two.
Two little raindrops danced so merrily,
Another splashed upon the earth, and then there were three.
Three little raindrops heard the thunder roar.
Another fell right down kerplop, and then there were four.
Four little raindrops kept the grass alive.
Another one tumbled down, and then there were five.
Rumble, rumble, rumble. The rain clouds have gone.
So now I can splash with my plastic boots on!
Rainy Day Fun
Slip on your rain coat.
Pull up your galoshes.
Wade in puddles,
Make splishes and sploshes!
Showers
Squelch and squirt and squiggle,
Drizzle and drip and drain-
Such a lot of water
Comes down with the rain!
by Marchette Chute
Sidewalk Measles
I saw the sidewalk catch the measles
When the rain came down today.
It started with a little blotching -
Quickly spread to heavy splotching,
Then as I continued watching
The rain-rash slowly dried away.
by Barbara M. Hales
Sing a Song of Raindrops (tune of 3 Blind Mice)
Sing a song of raindrops
I love every one!
Running through the rain is
A special springtime fun.
by Mary McFarland Leister
Splish, Splosh
Dripping, dropping, splishing sploshing,
On the window pane.
Plipping plopping, never stopping,
Listen to the rain.
Storm
Black clouds are giants hurrying
Across the field of the sky
And they slip out bolts of lightening
As they go racing by
When they meet each other, they shake hands and thunder
How do you do, how do you do, HOW DO YOU DO!
by Cromwell et al
The Rain
I sit before the window now
And I look out at the rain.
It means no play outside today
So inside I remain.
I watch the water dribble down
And turn the brown grass green.
And after awhile I start to smile
At Nature's washing machine.
by Cromwell et al
The Rain
Rain on the green grass,
And rain on the tree,
And rain on the house top,
But not on me!

The Rain Cloud
There's a rain cloud in the sky.
Now it's drifting down.
Slowly, slowly raindrops fall
Covering the town.
Splish, splosh, splatter, plop!
Raindrops splatter as they drop.
Go inside and don't get wet.
There are lots of splashes yet.
Get your slicker or your coat,
Run and find your little boat.
Put on boots, put on cap.
Zip yourself up with a snap!
Splash in puddles, slosh in rain.
Watch the rain run down the drain.
Now, come play and sail your boat.
The rain has stopped, take off your coat.
Take off your boots, take off your cap,
Zip off your jacket with a snap.
Now lie down for a cozy nap.
There is Thunder (to Are You Sleeping)
There is thunder, there is thunder.
Hear it roar, hear it roar.
Pitter, patter, rain drops.
Pitter, patter, raindrops.
I'm all wet. I'm all wet.
The Water-Go-Round
Oh, the sea makes the clouds,
And the clouds make the rain,
And the rain rains down
On the mighty mountain chain.
Then, the silver rivers race,
To the green and easy plains
Where they hurry, flurry, scurry,
'Til they reach the sun again.
Thunderstorm
Boom, bang, boom, bang!
Rumpety, lumpety, bump!
Zoom, zam, zoom, zam!
Rustles and bustles
And swishes and zings!
What wonderful noises
A thunderstorm brings.
Under My Umbrella
Under my umbrella, I am dry
When it's raining, my oh my
I wait until the raindrops stop
Now no umbrella on my top!
Water Jewels
How well bedecked the weeds become
When dressed in water gems.
They wear rain jewels upon their leaves
And raindrop diadems.
Weather
Dot a dot dot dot a dot dot
Spotting the windowpane.
Spack a spack speck flick a flack fleck
Freckling the windowpane.
A spatter a scatter a wet cat a clatter
A splatter a rumble outside.
Umbrella umbrella umbrella umbrella
Bumbershoot barrel of rain.
Slosh a galosh slosh a galosh
Slither and slather and glide
A puddle a jump a puddle a jump
A puddle a jump puddle splosh
A juddle a pump a luddle a dump a
Puddermuddle jump in and slide!
