A Most Unusual Pet

I don't want a bird,
I don't want a guppy,
I don't want a mouse,
Or even a puppy!
I don't want a lizard,
I don't want a rat,
I don't want a frog,
Or even a cat!
I just want a dragon
To hitch to my wagon!

A Sea-Serpent Saw a Big Tanker

A sea-serpent saw a big tanker,
Bit a hole in her side and then sank her.
It swallowed the crew
In a minute or two,
And then picked its teeth with the anchor.

Autumn Elves

Five little elves met one autumn day.
Five little elves decided they would play,
And paint with rainbow colors.
Each elf was in a rush
To paint the leaves upon the trees
With his own paint brush.
The first little elf found a jar of red
And painted the flowers in the flower bed.
The second little elf shinnied up on a limb.
And found a green leaf that he could trim.
The third little elf with a stroke of brown
Painted each leaf that came tumbling down.
The fourth little elf was a happy fellow.
He found a leaf and painted it yellow.
The fifth little elf painted all of the night.
Until his leaves were orange bright.
Next day, people looked at the painted trees,
And they felt a chill in the autumn breeze.
But nobody thought of the little elves,
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - all proud of themselves!

Bring the Troll More

Puff, blow, roar
Sizzle, sizzle, snore
Bring the troll more, more, more!

Jello Monster

If a giant monster
Stops to say hello
Ask him in for dinner
And feed him fried jello!

Monsters

Monsters come in all sizes,
Some are big and some are small
Some are fat and some are thin
Some are short and some are tall
Monsters come in all sizes
They come any way at all.

Night, Knight

"Night, night,"
said one knight
to the other knight
the other night.
"Night, night, knight."

The Goblin

A goblin lives in our house, in our house, in our house.
A goblin lives in our house all the year round.
He bumps
And he jumps
And he thumps
He knocks
And he rocks
And he rattles at the locks.
A goblin lives in our house, in our house, in our house.
A goblin lives in our house, all the year round.

The Pixies Have Tea

Five little Pixies decided to have tea
Beside a sparkling brooklet, beneath a willow tree.
The first one filled some acorn cups with a lovely morning dew.
The second brought some seeds of sesame to chew.
The third little Pixie put some cream and sugar in.
The fourth one tied a dainty napkin underneath her chin.
The fifth one brought a loaf of bread no bigger than your thumb.
The Pixies sang a Pixie song and were so glad they'd come.

There are Trolls

Troll live in tree stumps
And live in old fridges
There are trolls up the chimney
And some under bridges.
There are trolls that eat lemons
And some that eat snakes
There's one (I've been told)
That gobbles up rakes!

The Way to Make-Believe

Do you know the way to make-believe?
I'll tell you just right.
Wait till a yellow moon comes up
Over purple seas at night,
And makes a shining pathway
That is sparkling and bright.
Then if you know the very words
To cast a spell at night,
You'll get upon a thistledown,
And if the breeze is right,
You'll sail away to make-believe
Along this track of light!

Tip-Toe

Tip-toe, tip-toe, that is how the pixies go.
Tip-toe, tip-toe, they can hear the flowers grow.
Tip-toe, tip-toe, silently they come and go.
Tip-toe, tip-toe, quiet as white flakes of snow.
Tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe.

Where Should I Live?

Where should I live?
In a castle with towers and a moat?
Or on a river in a houseboat?
A winter igloo made of ice may be just the thing
But what would happen when it turned to spring?
I like tall apartments and houses made of stone.
But I'd also like to live in a blue mobile home.
A cave or a cabin in the woods would give me lots of space
But I guess my home is the best place!
