Dinosaurs
All Around the Swamp (tune of Wheels on
the Bus)
The pteranodon's wings went flap, flap, flap
Flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap
The pteranodon's wings went flap, flap, flap
All around the swamp.
The tyrannosaurus rex went grr, grr,
grr....
The triceratops' horns went poke, poke, poke...
The brontosaurus went munch, munch, munch...
The stegosaurus' tail went spike, spike,
spike...
Apatosaurus
Apatosaurus was really quite large,
As high as a building, as wide as a barge.
But his mouth was quite tiny, this huge quadraped.
So each day he woke in his dinosaur bed
With a very big problem inside his small head;
How could he keep his great body well fed?
How could he avoid the unpleasant condition
Of dinosaur hunger or worse, malnutrition?
The answer is simple, I'm happy to say.
For hours and hours and hours each day,
He did what you'd do in a similar state
With a mouth very small and a body so great -
He just ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate,
and ate.
Dinosaur
See him come from afar
That enormous dinosaur.
Lumbering, lumbering,
Hear that giant grumbling.
Earth shakes, earth quakes,
Such a dreadful sound he makes.
See him come, from afar,
That enormous dinosaur.
Dinosaurs (tune of
Alouette)
Allosaurus,
pachycephalosaurus,
Apatosaurus, tyrannosaurus rex.
Stegosaurus, trachodon
Triceratops, pteranodon
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs
Allosaurus, pachycephalosaurus
Apatosaurus, tyrannosaurus rex!
Dinosaur Bones
Let's look for bones.
Dig, dig, dig.
Dinosaur bones.
Big, big, big.
Back to the lab.
Zip, zip, zip.
Clean the bones.
Chip, chip, chip.
Put them together.
So, so, so.
We've built a dinosaur!
Oh, what a show!
Dinosaur Count
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, how many do you see?
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, count them with me
One in the grass
One near the tree
One at the river
And that makes three
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, how many do you see?
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, count them with me
Three at the river
One swims away
Two dinosaurs
Can stay and play
Dinosaur Hunt (tune of Going on a Bear
Hunt)
(children echo each line after you)
Going on a dinosaur hunt (slap thighs)
But I'm not afraid (shake head no)
I've got my trusty net (show net)
And my teddy bear at my side (hug teddy)
Uh oh,
What do I see (look to ceiling)
There's a tall mountain
Can't go under it (move hand down)
Can't go around it (move hand around)
Guess I'll have to go over it (move hand up)
There's a river
Can't go over it
Can't go under it
Guess I'll have to swim through it (swimming
action)
There's some tall grass
Can't go over it
Can't go around it
Guess I'll have to go through it (slide hands
together)
There's a cave
Can't go over it
Can't go under it
Guess I'll have to go in it (slap hand up and
down in front)
It's dark and spooky in here (shake)
It's cold in here (wrap arms around self and
shiver)
I feel some scales (pretend to rub something)
I feel some big teeth (pretend to touch
something)
Ohh! It's a dinosaur!
Run out of the cave
Go through the grass
Swim the river
Climb the mountain
Run home
Open the door
Jump into bed
I went on a dinosaur hunt
And I wasn't afraid!
Dinosaur Song (tune of Wheels on the
Bus)
The tyrannosaurus rex had great big teeth,
great big teeth, great big teeth
The tyrannosaurus rex had great big teeth, when
the dinosaurs roamed.
The apatosaurus had a very long tail...
The diplodocus' nostrils were on top of his
head...
The saltopus was as small as a cat...
Dinosaur Walk
Dinosaurs walked like this and like that
They're terribly big and terribly fat!
They have no fingers but mighty big toes
And goodness gracious, how they grow!
Dinosaurs (tune of Row Your Boat)
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, eating fruits and weeds
Take a bite and chew it well, and then spit out
the seeds.
Dinosaurs (tune of I'm a Little Teapot)
I'm a brontosaurus with four feet
I eat plants but don't eat meat
Known as thunder lizard, that is true
Cause when I walked the earth just shook
Chorus:
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs that we
know
Some were large, some were
small
Fossils tell us this is so
Cause I've not seen one at
all.
Tyrannosaurs rex is my name
King of the dinosaurs that I am
I make many run and hide away
Cause I'm mean and like to fight
Chorus
I am a triceratops with three horns
A big big head and frilly bones
I'm a fierce eater on four feet
But I eat plants cause they are neat.
Chorus
Dinosaurs Five
Five big dinosaurs, five and no more
One chased a butterfly and then there were four
Four big dinosaurs, eating a tree
One went for a swim and then there were three
Three big dinosaurs didn't know what to do
One went fishing and then there were two.
Two big dinosaurs can still have fun
But one went for dinner and that left one
One big dinosaur watched the setting sun
He closed his sleepy eyes and then there were
none!
Dinosaurs Go Marching (tune of Ants Go
Marching)
The dinosaurs go marching one by one, hurrah,
hurrah
The dinosaurs go marching one by one, hurrah,
hurrah,
The dinosaurs go marching one by one
The little one stopped to stand in the sun
And they all go marching round and round and up
and down.
Two... to admire the view
Three... to eat from a tree
Four... to give a roar
Five... to stay alive
Six... to gather some sticks
Seven... to look at heaven
Eight... to kiss his mate
Nine... to scratch his spine
Ten... to do it again!
Dinosaurs Once Ruled the Earth (tune of
Mary Had a Little Lamb)
Dinosaurs once ruled the earth, ruled the
earth, ruled the earth
Dinosaurs once ruled the earth, many years ago.
Stegosaurus swished his tail...
Brontosaurus was very big...
Brachiosaurus lived in the water...
Apatosaurus stomped so hard...
Pterodactyl was a winged flier...
Trachodon had 2000 teeth...
Triceratops had three horns...
Tyrannosaurus rex was the king...
Dinosaurs Were Really Grand (tune of 1
Little, 2 Little)
One little, two little, three little dinosaurs
Walking in the forest and walking on the
seashores
It makes me sad they're not around anymore
Dinosaurs were really grand
Do You Know (tune of Muffin Man)
Oh, do you know the stegosaurus
The stegosaurus, the stegosaurus,
Oh, do you know the stegosaurus,
With plates upon his back.
Apatosaurus... he had a very long neck.
Tyrannosaurus rex... he was very fierce.
Triceratops... he had three big horns.
Five Huge Dinosaurs
Five huge dinosaurs, looking fierce and mean
The first one said, "I eat things that are
green."
The second one said, "I hatched from an
egg."
The third one said, "I have big strong
legs."
The fourth one said, "I can fly through
the air."
The fifth one said, "I give everyone a
scare."
THUMP THUMP came Tyrannosaurus rex that day
And the five huge dinosaurs all ran away.
Footprints
Footprints, footprints,
Dinosaur footprints.
Was he BIG?
Was he SMALL?
Look at his footprints!
Footprints, footprints,
Dinosaur footprints.
Was he fast?
Was he slow?
Look at his footprints!
Hiding Dinosaurs
Dinosaur, dinosaur, where can you be?
Hiding behind where you can't see
Now you see one, it is waiting for you
Here comes another and now you see two.
If I Could Be a Dinosaur
If I could be a dinosaur
I wouldn't talk, I'd only roar.
I'd stomp around and shake the ground,
If I were a dinosaur.
I'd stretch my long, long neck up high,
To see where pterodactyls fly.
I'd eat the leaves off tall, tall trees,
If I were a dinosaur.
I'd Like To Be a Dinosaur (tune of Mary
Had a Little Lamb)
I'd like to be a dinosaur, dinosaur, dinosaur
And if I were a dinosaur, I would be a
__________.
Ill-Mannered Dinosaurs
Never go to lunch with a dinosaur
They're a mean, foul, nasty group
They burp and slurp and never sit down
They are likely to step in your soup.
The biggest are called herbivores
Which means they eat grass and trees
But when you're longer than a school bus,
You can eat whatever you please.
The rest are called carnivores
Which means they eat most meat
If there are not enough hot dogs to go around
They will probably eat your feet
And when it comes time to clear the plates
They'll try to sneak away
Instead of helping with the dishes
They'll try to go out and play.
Please, Mr. Plesiosaur
Please, Mr. Plesiosaur
Is there any way?
You could have some relatives
Still alive today?
I heard tell of sea serpents
And lochness monsters, too.
Could they be descended from
A dinosaurs like you?
So Big
The dinosaur, an ancient beast,
I'm told was very large,
It's eyes were as big as soccer balls!
It's stomach a garage!
He had a huge and humping back,
A neck as long as Friday.
I'm glad he lived so long ago.
And doesn't live in my day.
Stegosaur
A stegosaur came through my door
And stomped across the kitchen floor
A prehistoric visitor
Was more than I had bargained for.
"What brings you to my kitchen
floor?"
I asked the giant dinosaur
Is it the plant that's near the door
The one that measures five foot four?
"Oh, yes," it answered with a roar
I'm hungry and my belly's sore
There's nothing to eat in the dinostore
To feed a hungry herbivore
A leafy lunch, a crunch core
Is all the food I'm looking for
If you agree to feed me more
This tempting plant I will ignore.
I spread some greens across the floor
Then stood close by in the corridor
And watched the starving stegosaur
Gorge on salad, soup, and an apple core
It left no litter on the floor
And thanked me at the kitchen door
I've never dined like this before
I promise, I'll be back for more.
Ten Big Dinosaurs (tune of 1 Little, 2
Little)
1 big, 2 big, 3 big dinosaurs
4 big, 5 big, 6 big dinosaurs
7 big, 8 big, 9 big dinosaurs
10 big dinosaurs
The dinosaurs lived a long time ago
The dinosaurs lived a long time ago
The dinosaurs lived a long time ago
Now they are extinct.
Terrible Tyrannosaurus
I am terrible tyrannosaurus
I am so strong and mean
Maybe the scariest thing
That you've ever seen!
I have great big red eyes
And great big teeth
Huge hind legs tucked underneath!
With a giant head and jaws so wide,
I can swallow two kids side by side.
The Dinosaur Dinner
Allosaurus, stegosaurus, brontosaurus too
All went off to dinner at the dinosaur zoo.
Along came the waiter, called tyrannosaurus
rex,
Gobbled up the table,
'Cause they wouldn't pay their checks.
The Dinosaurs
The dinosaurs lived long ago
When life on Earth began
Some were tall, and some were small
Some liked water, some liked land
Pteranodons had long leathery necks
And the meanest dinosaur of all
Was the Tyrannosaurus Rex!
Three Great Dinosaurs
Brontosaurs, stegosaurus, tyrannosaurus too
Three great dinosaurs with nothing to do
The three great dinosaurs went for a drink
But we will never see them because they're
extinct.
Two Pterodactyls
Two pterodactyls sitting on a wall.
One named Peter and the other named Paul.
Fly away Peter, fly away Paul.
Come back Peter, come back Paul.
Unfortunately
Dinosaurs lived so long ago
They never had a chance to know
How many kids would love to get
A dinosaur to be their pet.
What Colors Were the Dinosaurs?
I think that dinosaurs were red
With splashes of purple on their heads
Perhaps their bodies had white spots
Or pink and blue small polka dots
Imagine Stegosaurus now
With brown spots like a milking cow
Or brontosaurus, was she pink?
With orange toes? What do you think?
Tyrannosaurus he was mean
Was he brown, or was he green?
Or maybe like the zebra he -
Had black and white stripes. Could this be?
Triceratops had three huge horns
Were they brown like prickly thorns?
I think their three horns looked just like
A scary tiger's teeth, big and white.
Now stop and think about the way
The animals look today.
Some have stripes, some are white
Each kind is such a special sight
So when I draw huge dinosaurs
I choose three colors, maybe four
And paint them bright, now I suppose,
That the scientists would not oppose?
What If?
What if...
You opened a book about dinosaurs
And one stumbled off
And another and another
And more and more pour
Until the whole place
Is bumbling and rumbling
And groaning and moaning
And snoring and roaring
And dinosauring?
What if...
You tried to push them
Back inside
But they kept tromping
Off the page instead?
Would you close the covers?
What's For Lunch?
Carnivore, carnivore, what do you eat?
"I am a hunter. I only eat meat!"
Herbivore, herbivore, what do you eat?
"I enjoy plants and leaves for
lunch."
Omnivore, omnivore, how about you?
"I like meat and plants to chew."
Where Did the Dinosaurs Go? (tune of
Where Has My Little Dog Gone)
Oh where, oh where, did the dinosaurs go?
Oh where, oh where can they be?
They were much too big just to disappear
It sure is puzzling to me.
