The tyrannosaurus rex went grr, grr, grr....
The triceratops' horns went poke, poke, poke...
The brontosaurus went munch, munch, munch...
The stegosaurus' tail went spike, spike, spike...

Apatosaurus

Apatosaurus was really quite large,
As high as a building, as wide as a barge.
But his mouth was quite tiny, this huge quadraped.
So each day he woke in his dinosaur bed
With a very big problem inside his small head;
How could he keep his great body well fed?
How could he avoid the unpleasant condition
Of dinosaur hunger or worse, malnutrition?
The answer is simple, I'm happy to say.
For hours and hours and hours each day,
He did what you'd do in a similar state
With a mouth very small and a body so great -
He just ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, and ate.

You can eat whatever you please.
The rest are called carnivores
Which means they eat most meat
If there are not enough hot dogs to go around
They will probably eat your feet
And when it comes time to clear the plates
They'll try to sneak away
Instead of helping with the dishes
They'll try to go out and play.

So Big

The dinosaur, an ancient beast,
I'm told was very large,
It's eyes were as big as soccer balls!
It's stomach a garage!
He had a huge and humping back,
A neck as long as Friday.
I'm glad he lived so long ago.
And doesn't live in my day.

Stegosaur

A stegosaur came through my door
And stomped across the kitchen floor
A prehistoric visitor
Was more than I had bargained for.
"What brings you to my kitchen floor?"
I asked the giant dinosaur
Is it the plant that's near the door
The one that measures five foot four?
"Oh, yes," it answered with a roar
I'm hungry and my belly's sore
There's nothing to eat in the dinostore
To feed a hungry herbivore
A leafy lunch, a crunch core
Is all the food I'm looking for
If you agree to feed me more
This tempting plant I will ignore.
I spread some greens across the floor
Then stood close by in the corridor
And watched the starving stegosaur
Gorge on salad, soup, and an apple core
It left no litter on the floor
And thanked me at the kitchen door
I've never dined like this before
I promise, I'll be back for more.

The Dinosaur Dinner

Along came the waiter, called tyrannosaurus rex,
Gobbled up the table,
'Cause they wouldn't pay their checks.

What Colors Were the Dinosaurs?

I think that dinosaurs were red
With splashes of purple on their heads
Perhaps their bodies had white spots
Or pink and blue small polka dots
Imagine Stegosaurus now
With brown spots like a milking cow
Or brontosaurus, was she pink?
With orange toes? What do you think?
Tyrannosaurus he was mean
Was he brown, or was he green?
Or maybe like the zebra he -
Had black and white stripes. Could this be?
Triceratops had three huge horns
Were they brown like prickly thorns?
I think their three horns looked just like
A scary tiger's teeth, big and white.
Now stop and think about the way
The animals look today.
Some have stripes, some are white
Each kind is such a special sight
So when I draw huge dinosaurs
I choose three colors, maybe four
And paint them bright, now I suppose,
That the scientists would not oppose?

What If?

What if...
You opened a book about dinosaurs
And one stumbled off
And another and another
And more and more pour
Until the whole place
Is bumbling and rumbling
And groaning and moaning
And snoring and roaring
And dinosauring?

What if...
You tried to push them
Back inside
But they kept tromping
Off the page instead?
Would you close the covers?

"I am a hunter. I only eat meat!"
