Building Things

Carpenter

This is the way he saws the wood
Sawing, sawing, sawing.
This is the way he nails a nail,
Nailing, nailing, nailing.
This is the way he paints a building
Painting, painting, painting.

Hammer, Hammer, Hammer

Hammer, hammer, hammer, I drive the nails so straight
Do you know what I'm building? A truck for hauling freight
I'm sawing, sawing, sawing, to make my wheels go round
I nail my truck together, pound, pound, pound.

My House

I'm going to build a little house with a chimney tall,
A sloping roof - and a garden wall
A big front door you can open wide,
And two tiny windows you can peep inside.
I'm going to build a table big enough for two.
Two little chairs - one for me- one for you.
Knock at the knocker, and please come in.
My little house is shining like a bright new pin.

My House

I'm going to build a little house,
With windows big and bright,
With chimney tall and curling smoke
Drifting out of sight.
In winter when the snowflakes fall
Or when I hear a storm,
I'll go sit in my little house
Where I'll be snug and warm.

My Little House

My little house won't stand up straight.
My little house has lost its gate.
My little house bends up and down.
My little house is the oldest one in town.
Here comes the wind - it blows and blows again.
Down falls my little house, oh, what a shame!

Peter Works with One Hammer

Peter works with one hammer, one hammer, one hammer,
Peter works with one hammer, this fine day.
Peter works with two hammers... (up to five)
Peter's very tired now...
Peter's going to sleep now...
Peter's waking up now, up now, up now,
Peter's waking up now this fine day.

The Carpenter's Tools

The carpenter's hammer goes rap, rap, rap
And his saw goes see, saw, see.
He planes and hammers and saws
While he builds a building for me.

This is the Way
(tune of Mulberry Bush)

This is the way we saw our wood, saw our wood, saw our wood,
This is the way we saw our wood, so early in the morning.
... pound our nails
... drill a hole
... use a screwdriver
